November Fundraiser

A HUGE thank-you to everyone who came and supported our event at the Inn on the Lake, Silvermere on 9 November. We're delighted to report that it raised over 7000 toward our next village school project. That's 25% of the total cost of building and furnishing six brand new classrooms - an amazing achievement in a single evening. And with the on-going sale of the children's artwork, Christmas and greetings cards; that figure will almost certainly rise.

The overall total has also been boosted by Anne O'Hagan in Sydney, who, with her generous friends, raised another A$735(480). Donations in Australia funded the swings and slides which were installed at both Thoeun's Trust schools earlier this year.

We're now on track to build a third school in 2013 and will start seriously considering locations where land is available and the need is greatest. There will be more information on our progress in the new year...

But first a very big thank-you to the people and organisations who made the fundraiser such a success:

SILVERMERE GOLF & LEISURE which let us use their lovely lakeside venue free of charge for a second time.
GURNEY INTERIORSCAPES; who gave us the beautiful floral decorations.
WAITROSE; who once again donated all the wine and cava for the evening.
IKEA; who gave us over 70 colourful frames to enhance the paintings and drawings by the children of Koh Sangdyke village school.
THE TATE GALLERY; Where the design team turned eight of the children's pictures into very special Chrismtas and greetings cards
PUREPRINT: Who printed the cards for us free of charge

We still have some cards for sale. Packs cost 5 for 8 different designs. Blank or with Christmas greetings. Call 07976 938817

Enormous thanks also go to:

Brave CHRISTOPHER BRAMLEY who raised over 300 through a very painful looking sponsored chest wax.
GEORGIE, MARK, TIM, ROSIE AND GEMMA: It wouldn't have happened without you!

We are also hugely grateful to the auction lot donors including:

LORRAINE CLEMENTS who allowed us to sell a week at the family's gorgeous Analucian villa and TERRY SHOESMITH who's cottage in the Vale of Pewsey also went under the hammer for a long weekend.
CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB which once again donated a signed and authenticated team shirt
CHRIS & CAROLINE BEDFORD who donated a week at their lovely gite in the Loire Valley
SUE & PHIL BRAMLEY who made a night at their fabulous 5 star B&B in Shaftsbury available to bidders.
PRESTON & DUCKWORTH for two lovely bracelets - it's the second time they've contributed to one of our charity auctions.

We remain grateful to the wonderful pupils of Fonteyn House at Surbiton High School who gave another 296.40 to Thoeun's Trust during the year. The money was the result of various fund raising efforts. It's a large sum in Surbiton - and an enormous amount in a third world country like Cambodia!

Special thanks go to Natalie Jones and the lovely members of Surbiton High Yoga Club who have given us a cheque for 400. That's enough to furnish a whole classroom.. what a fantastic surprise!

We'd also like to say a huge thank-you to Lucy and Lorraine at Jigsaw Care Services Plus for their support and encouragement. Thanks to them, Thoeun's Trust was chosen to receive 1000 which had been raised for charity by the members of Hale Lodge in Harrow. Award winning JCSP specialises in solving care needs and donates part of its profits to childrens' charities.
